The Pirelli calendar is well-known for gorgeous shots of nude supermodels. But the 2016 calendar features inspiring, powerful women known for more than their looks–and it’s amazing.
Newly-released images from the calendar show comedian Amy Schumer and tennis superstar Serena Williams, photographed by Annie Leibovitz. The pair are the only two women who chose to be mostly undressed in the new calendar.

“Pirelli came to me and told me they wanted to shift this year to something different,” Liebovitz said at a press conference. “I made the suggestion that they do women performance artists or women comedians, almost a take-off. I just thought of women I admired and I didn’t let anyone in the studio from Pirelli. It became a very strong set of very simple portraits.”
The image of Schumer shows her posing with a latte wearing nothing but underwear and high heels, as one does.
