There’s no denying that stilettos are super sexy. And these lace-up sandals? Beyond. But, there’s more to great heels than just looking good. And while Thesis Couture heels do look good (see above), that’s only part of the story behind these stilettos and their label: Thesis has big plans to create “a longer-wearing stiletto.” So far, they’ve enlisted an astronaut and a rocket scientist to help. Not too shabby when it comes to engineering something to be more ergonomic, don’t you think?
Creator Dolly Singh, who spent time as a recruiter in the rocket industry, explains, “It’s a stiletto. It’s never going to feel like a tennis shoe. But it doesn’t have to feel like a torture device either.” To up the shoe’s comfort levels, Singh worked with former astronaut Garrett Reisman and rocket scientist Hans Koenigsmann on the shoe’s patent-pending architecture that redistributes pressure across the foot, rather than resting it all on a “flat metal plate,” which most other heels do, as she describes in the video below.
